Growing up in Northern New Mexico, the mountains were my playground. Hunting became a passion, and it led me to CrossFit. While attending a simulated hunting competition, I learned that the top performers trained using CrossFit methodologies. Around the same time, my aunt opened a CrossFit gym in Taos, NM. I took one class and was hooked. Participating in collegiate sports programming taught me the value of strength and conditioning regiments. I joined a box in Colorado in 2016 and have continued my fitness path with CrossFit as my guide. Confident in my fitness level, I joined the United States Army in 2017. A bit older than most initial entry soldiers, my CrossFit training allowed me to excel in physical fitness events. Finding a CrossFit gym in Tacoma, WA, was the best thing that happened to my fitness journey. The community pushed me to get better, not just physically but mentally. CrossFit became a cornerstone of my daily life. Changing duty stations to the Phoenix area, I walked into Octane and immediately felt at home. The staff was great, and the community even stronger. We have a great collection of coaches, and I am lucky to be part of the team.
